Connect With Nature

#FarmFresh

Nine Meals Away from Anarchy - As oil prices peak and we approach the end of the age of cheap food, now is the time for city-dwellers to reclaim urban areas for agriculture. Go to a farm nearby for ideas on what to grow in your own backyard. Be sure to check with each farm to see what is in season. Bring your family or friends and have a fun day at a farm.

Underwood Family Farms is a 40-acre working farm in Moorpark, California. They grow fresh vegetables and fruits and sell them at Underwood farm store and certified farmers markets throughout Southern California.

The Moorpark location offers year round U-pick seasonal fruits and veggies. Admission to the Farm Center, including the u-pick area, is $3.00 Monday through Friday and $5.00 on the weekends.

Weekend admission includes a tractor-drawn wagon ride around the farm and to the Pick Your Own fields. The Farm Center is open from 9:00am to 6:00pm 7 days a week March - November and on weekends in December. Most picked items are priced by the pound.

If you don't want to pick your own you can buy them from the farm produce stand. The farm asks you to bring your own clippers for pick-your-own crops and dress for farming. There is also a small petting zoo where you can up close to farm animals or ride a pony.
Thanks.

Be Focused

#Accountability
I was lost and found myself through a regular yoga practice. I learned to be more focused on what is good for me and believe in my dreams. I really want to make a difference in someone's life. As a teacher, I need to be 100% committed, focused, not making excuses if I want to lead by example. Yet there are so many distractions in my life that I feel like I am taking one step forward and two steps back. Without an understanding of yoga philosophy, I would be down on myself or discouraged. However, I know that the road to enlightenment is full of stumbling blocks. Being worried or stressed out would be my old response, but I can deal with challenges with calmness most of the time because of yoga. I am still learning and struggling to be the change I wish to see in the world, to detach from my old patterns (being scattered) and follow new ones (being focused) that lead to fulfillment.

1. Make time for myself - Practice yoga or meditation each morning before I do anything else like checking my email or updating my blog.

2. Keep a journal - Write down what's blocking me from my dreams. So much stuff comes up when I'm writing (familiar fears, old hurts, negative thoughts) that I don't want to deal with. However, I must bring light on them and face them down or they'll continue to haunt me.

3. Be accountable - Find a person who is committed to personal growth and ask him/ her to be my accountability partner. That means we call each other every day to ask if we are on track, what steps we're taking to achieve our dreams or goals.

I believe in my dreams. I deserve to be a published author. I am looking for an accountability partner. Tell me why you'd be a good partner for me.

Wishful Wednesday

#VirtualTour
The Best Thing About Thanksgiving is going on a virtual book tour of Australia! I want to share my Flickr photos with you.

Traveling solo can be fun. If you're single and don't feel confident to travel alone, join a local tour in that country! I did and had a blast. I love to travel! I was in Sydney for about 3 days, but tagged on a trip to the beautiful Blue Mountains to see The Three Sisters. I also went to Bondi Beach and joined a scuba diving tour. Then, I took a bus to Brisbane and joined a 3-day tour of Fraser Island. Beware of sand flies because I got bitten even with insect repellent and had scars for a while. I wanted to go to Cairns to visit The Great Barrier Reef, but didn't have enough time or money.

My Dream Trips:

Cairns - The Great Barrier Reef
Laos and Cambodia
Yoga Retreat near Yosemite
Carmel, Monterey and Big Sur, California
