Alignment

Mine isn't. Stand in front of a mirror this morning and greet yourself with a smile. Notice your posture and how you stand. Are parts of your body in alignment? Does your head sit straight over the shoulders or tilt to one side? Are your shoulders level with each other or is one side higher? Is the weight of your body evenly distributed on both legs? If you are unsure, look at the heels of your sneakers or walking shoes. I noticed that my body is not perfectly aligned. I tend to tilt my head and my shoulders are uneven. Also, I have flat feet, so that may contribute to the problem. I wear shoes with arch support, but still I do yoga to help me be more aligned. A few weeks ago, I went to see a chiropractor who confirmed my observation. Many people are not well balanced when they stand or move.  They tend to bend forward or hunch. In this posture, oxygen can't flow freely into the lungs. Do yoga, stand up and stretch while breathing deeply after sitting for a prolong period. Keep your body in alignment while you breathe deeply and slowly. See if you can maintain this posture throughout the day. Can you keep it while you're sitting at the desk in front of your computer? While you're driving or picking up a bag of groceries? As you do this yoga exercise, notice how you feel. During the busy day, you may forget to do this exercise, so set aside a few intervals to check your posture. Do yoga, stand up and stretch while breathing deeply after sitting for a prolong period.
