Big Sunday

 Subscribe in a reader

On Sunday, May 6, University Synagogue is proud to again be a Big Sunday Hub location and a central part of the largest community service event in the country.

This year's Big Sunday promises to be even bigger and better than ever. We encourage members of all
ages to come and participate on this special day. We continue to work with our friends from i-CERV
the Ismaili community as we bring our faith communities together to meet the needs of the greater community

Please review this helpful Big Sunday Guide to Big Sunday to learn about all of the opportunities
you have to get involved!

At 9am, open doors.

At 9:15am, kick-off and welcome, with a special interfaith prayer from all the communities involved.

There are over 300 ways and places to volunteer throughout Los Angeles and Orange County on Big Sunday. For a complete list, visit the Big Sunday web site!

E-Waste Collection
California Recycles will be on-hand to collect e-waste, including cell phones, batteries, computers, monitors, printers, electronics, and more! Drop off your items before 1pm at the designated area in
our parking lot.

Clothing/Book/DVD Collection and Sorting
Bring your clothing/book/DVD donations in advance or on Big Sunday and help sort, package, and ship these wonderful items to members in the greater community who are truly in need.

Lemonade Stand
Kids of all ages sell lemonade to raise money for charities benefiting children; a great way for
young kids to help other kids! Materials and instruction provided.

Art for Kids
Put together art projects for foster kids. Children's courts have limited space and money to be able
to provide for kids while court is in session. We are going to help them out by putting together
"ready to go" art projects so that kids can create and explore art while they are at the court house.
We need supervision at this station for kids.

Advocate for a Better World
Write your member of Congress and lend your voice to helping solve the great problems in this
world. Come to our advocacy table and learn about issues, sign your name to petitions and write

Bring your donations on Big Sunday or drop them off at the Synagogue in advance. They are
collecting clothes, toiletries, books, and DVDs. Tax receipts are available.
