How to Recover from a Cold or Cough
I believe in prevention and have been taking elderberry syrup (antioxidants and boost immunity). I also take oregano oil (immune support) with water every day. I manage stress with yoga and meditation. I drink lots of water and tea. However, I caught a nasty cold that lingered for a week. I had a sore throat, a cough and a migraine. I called my acupuncturist to set an appointment but he was booked until Sunday. I kept taking zinc and other natural remedies but lost my voice last Friday. I realized that I was exhausted and took a day off work to rest and sleep.
Finally, I got to see my acupuncturist who did cupping and acupuncture to help me heal. The cupping helped clear up the congestion and the treatment worked to bring me back to health. I think back to last week and realized that I should've taken a day off on Monday when I first felt sick. I went to work because wanted to tough it out. I listened to my head instead of my body. I think that we're conditioned to be responsible at work and not take sick days. Americans have less holidays and vacations than other first-world countries. Most of us are stressed and overworked. Next time you feel under the weather, do take a day off work. Practice self-care. It's the fastest way you can recover from a cold or cough.
